Gear Drives

About Gear Drives

A gear drive (also called a gear reducer or gearbox) takes motor speed down and torque up through a fixed gear ratio. DWP stocks around 45 of them: Falk enclosed drives (Ultramax RK2040 and RK2120, Drive One M1160, 1060FC3A, 2207J, 53-1040FZ2A and the 500MDX mixer drive), Sew-Eurodrive FA and FH helical-bevel gearmotors and MC series, Sumitomo Cyclo 6000, SM-Cyclo, Bevel BuddyBox and Paramax, Dodge TXT Torque-Arm, Nord, Browning 3000, David Brown Radicon worm drives, Horsburgh and Scott, Cone Drive, Voith, Chemineer HT and Lightnin agitator drives, Amarillo right-angle fan drives and a Beloit pulper drive. Ratios on the floor run from 2.5:1 to 1849:1, input from 3/4 HP to 599 HP.

What to read off the nameplate

Match ratio, input RPM, rated horsepower or torque, mounting (foot, flange, shaft-mount, vertical mixer), shaft orientation (inline, right-angle) and the output shaft size. Falk and Sew nameplates give the exact model code; on Sumitomo Cyclo units the frame number and ratio together define the box. Service class and mechanical rating tell you whether the drive is sized for the load; if you are unsure, tell us the driven machine.

Condition at DWP. New is factory new and unused, in the original packaging where it still exists. New surplus is an unused storeroom spare: bought by a plant, shelved and never installed, sometimes out of its box. Rebuilt was disassembled, inspected, worn parts replaced, reassembled and tested; a rebuilt storeroom spare was then shelved and never run. Used was removed from service, inspected, tested where the unit allows it, and photographed as-is, so the photos show the unit that ships. Every condition carries the 30-day money-back guarantee.

Orders before 2 PM Central (parcel) or 10:30 AM Central (freight) are processed the same business day and larger units ship LTL on a skid. Purchase orders and tax-exempt accounts are accepted.

If the ratio or frame you need is not listed, request a quote with the nameplate. We source Falk, Sew-Eurodrive, Sumitomo and Dodge drives regularly and have pricing within 24 to 48 hours.
