A gear drive (also called a gear reducer or gearbox) takes motor speed down and torque up through a fixed gear ratio. What to read off the nameplate

Match ratio, input RPM, rated horsepower or torque, mounting (foot, flange, shaft-mount, vertical mixer), shaft orientation (inline, right-angle) and the output shaft size. Falk and Sew nameplates give the exact model code; on Sumitomo Cyclo units the frame number and ratio together define the box. Service class and mechanical rating tell you whether the drive is sized for the load; if you are unsure, tell us the driven machine.

Condition at DWP. New means factory new and unused, in the original packaging where it still exists. New surplus means an unused storeroom spare: bought new by a plant, shelved and never installed, sometimes out of its box. Rebuilt means the unit was disassembled, inspected, worn parts replaced, reassembled and tested; a rebuilt storeroom spare was rebuilt and then shelved, never run since. Used means removed from service, inspected, tested where the unit allows it, and photographed as-is so the photos show the exact unit that ships. Orders before 2 PM Central (parcel) or 10:30 AM Central (freight) are processed the same business day and larger units ship LTL on a skid. Purchase orders and tax-exempt accounts are accepted.
